The van, which was an old Leyland vehicle, was last seen in a scrapyard in Carlisle about 10 years ago. This saw a great many protests against the illegal war in Iraq, and by a group of angry pensioners, who had their company pensions stolen from them. Needless to say the media were hanging around like flies around the proverbial. Some of the shots are not very good quality, this was because I had to take many of them through the windows of a tram due to not being able to get close due to the security cordons. Security was very heavy for this event. Several of the shots were taken outside Manchester's Cathedral in 2007, when the TV crews were there to cover a dispute between the Church of England and Sony after Sony had used the cathedral's interior for one of their violent video games. The BBC Radio Lancashire OB vehicle came along and broadcast live from the site, and the interviewer could be seen walking around interviewing various people involved with the rally. On this page you can see shots of the vehicle, its aerial and presenters, as well as some of the vintage buses.
